We are so excited to finally be able to announce that as of 1st August 2022, the VTCT (ITEC) Level 7 Diploma in Clinical Aesthetic Injectable Treatments is available at Facethetics Training!
What is Level 7?
Level 7 is a postgraduate aesthetics qualification that was specifically designed to meet the guidance provided by Health Education England, the General Medical Council, the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners, and National Occupational Standards.
It focuses on the required practical and theoretical knowledge to enable aesthetic practitioners to consistently administer safe, effective and appropriate, clinical aesthetic treatments.
Who can train in Level 7?
The Level 7 qualification is open to qualified medical professionals, who have no conditions attached to their practice and who are registered with a national professional regulatory body. These regulatory bodies include;
- General Medical Council
- General Dentist Council
- Nursing and Midwifery Council
- General Pharmaceutical Council
- Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland
- Health Care Professions Council
Please note that professional registration numbers will be required in order to confirm your registry.
I’m already a trained and experienced aesthetic practitioner - would I have to start from scratch to do Level 7?
If you are an aesthetic practitioner who has already trained and built up your experience over several years, you probably don’t wish to undertake further training in order to obtain the Level 7 qualification. Fortunately, at Facethetics, we are offering the Express Pathway to Level 7. This allows practitioners who are already working in the industry to provide proof of your prior learning and experience, so that you can progress through the Level 7 programme more quickly. This is called Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL).
Please note, you must meet certain entry requirements in order to be eligible for RPEL.
What are the benefits of the Level 7 qualification?
As you are probably aware, there is currently no requirement in the UK for aesthetic practitioners to hold a specific qualification or to have completed a particular course in order to practise aesthetic medicine. So why bother completing the Level 7 qualification?
Here are a few reasons;
-
It sets you apart from the crowd. Level 7 is the only aesthetics qualification of its kind and allows you to demonstrate to current and prospective patients that you have done the work. It is a clear guarantee of your skill, knowledge and dedication as an aesthetic practitioner.
-
If you are hoping to someday work for a larger aesthetic clinic or organisation, the Level 7 qualification is an excellent addition to your CV and will improve your employability.
-
Protect and future-proof your aesthetics career. With the new aesthetics licensing scheme that was introduced earlier this year, it is looking highly likely that aesthetic practitioners will be expected to meet an educational standard in order to be eligible for a license. As a recognised and regulated qualification, there is a strong expectation in the industry that Level 7 will be the required educational standard.
